Students at Admaston Public School are encouraged to participate in and initiate leadership opportunities at our school. Some of the areas include bullying prevention, global citizenship. volunteerism, social justice, and indigenous education. Admaston works in partnership with the ME to WE foundation to empower students to change the world. You can’t buy a ticket to WE Day. Students earn their way by taking one local and one global action through WE Schools, our yearlong educational program that engages and empowers young people to become compassionate leaders and active citizens.
Selected Fridays, some classes have Change 4 Change day where they can bring in their music players and hand-held games for the day for a donation. Students listen to their music during independent work time and then have a chunk of time at the end of the day where they enjoy their various games and devices with their classmates.
Zuena is the child that Admaston Public School sponsors through World Vision. We have sponsored her monthly since 2007, by giving her money for food, clean water, clothing, and to help go toward her education. As of November 30th, 2015 Zuena has left her sponsorship area to live with relatives.
Our monthly support has been assigned to a new sponsored child. His name is Masanja Hondo Misalaba from United Republic of Tanzania. He is 3 years old. Masanja lives in the rural community of Shishiyu, home to more than 30,000 people - most of whom are farmers. Rain is the main source of water however changes in temperature have caused droughts, leading to smaller harvests Deforestation is also an issue. Some of the challenges Masanja faces is Health Care, Water and Sanitation and Education.
Every year donations are presented to the Renfrew Food Bank on behalf of the students at Admaston.
